How can you get involved in The Scottish Drift Championship as a driver?

Event Dates
All rounds will be held at Driftland.
Round 1 Sunday 9th April 2023.
Round 2 Sunday 30th July 2023.
Round 3 Sunday 17th September 2023.
Round 4 FINAL - Sunday 29th October 2023.

Practice days will be on the day before the competition date.

Regulations for 2023
Minimum 2ltr AFFF FOAM handheld extinguisher fitted within reach of the driver while seated and belted.
Fire retardant gloves are mandatory.
If aftermarket seats/harnesses are fitted they must be securely/safely mounted.
Front and rear tow straps/tow hooks securely mounted and visible. Either by using a “TOW” sticker or contrasting colour to bodywork.
The above regulations are in addition to the standard Driftland car & driver rules.

All vehicles will be checked before being allowed on live track.

SDC 2023 Costs
Driver entry fee per round £120 includes 1 free pit crew.
Sun strip is free on initial sign up for 2023. (£20 thereafter).
Tyre changing costs - to be confirmed.
VIP parking £10 per car. (In addition to spectator entry cost)
Spectator costs (see event details nearer the time)

2023 Entry Criteria
Any driver holding a Full UK manual driving license or a Driftland license.
Any car/driver qualifying for SDC regulations and Driftland regulations.
Road tyres with a maximum width of 225 are allowed. No Semi Slicks.
105dB hard limit static and drive by.

Practice, Qualifying and points structure.
Group A and Group B, set practice times.
Qualifying for the each round will be Group A first followed by Group B. For example group A will consist of driver numbers 100 – 51 and group B will consist of driver numbers 50 – 1. It will be your own responsibility to make sure that you are on the grid ready to do your qualifying run. This does not need to be done in numerical order. However it does need to be done in that time bracket. Times etc will be continually updated via the facebook chat group on the day.
2 non-consecutive qualifying runs.

The point’s structure will be the same as SDC 2022.

PROGRESSION
The Scottish Drift Championship are happy to advise that we have agreed with Drift League GB that a progression process is in place for our season 2023 championship to Drift League GB 2024 championship.

One NON BDC/IDC licence holder and one BDC/IDC licence holder from the Scottish Drift Championship 2023 finishing table will be guaranteed* a place to progress to Drift League GB 2024 based on the further information below.
(*Please note car/driver must meet Drift League GB 2024 requirements to progress)

The top BDC/IDC licence holder from the Scottish Drift Championship 2023 will be guaranteed a space in Drift League GB 2024 Round 1 open class (cost tbc). If the BDC/IDC licenced driver wishes to sign up for the whole Drift League GB season 2024 they will be guaranteed a 2024 season spot and gain access to Round 1 of Drift League GB 2024 for free.

The top non BDC/IDC licence holder from the Scottish Drift Championship 2023 will be guaranteed a space in Drift League GB 2024 Round 1 rookie class (cost tbc). If the non BDC/IDC licenced driver wishes to sign up for the whole Drift League season 2024 they will be guaranteed a 2024 season spot and gain access to Round 1 of Drift League GB 2024 for free.

Up to the top 8 in the Scottish Drift Championship 2023 finishing table will be considered for progression.

For example if the top 8 finishers in the table are:
1. BDC/IDC licence holder
2. BDC/IDC licence holder
3. BDC/IDC licence holder
4. BDC/IDC licence holder
5. Non BDC/IDC licence holder
6. Non BDC/IDC licence holder
7. BDC/IDC licence holder
8. Non BDC/IDC licence holder

Finisher 1 will be guaranteed a spot in Drift league GB 2024 OPEN CLASS Rd 1 or season 2024.
Finisher 5 will be guaranteed a spot in Drift League GB 2024 ROOKIE CLASS Rd 1 or season 2024.

*As stated previously the above guarantee of a spot in Drift League GB 2024 is strictly based on the driver/car meeting Drift League GB 2024 requirements. See Drift League GB requirements for further information.

To be guaranteed a spot in Drift League GB Rookie or Open Class is an amazing offer, as there are only 40 spots available for each class.
